At best we can resurrect ourself as a secondary player that manages to avoid any ill will or harmful attention from the top tier countries. The fundamental structure of American society and its political mechanisms will be its downfall. American voters aren't willing to sacrifice social programs or standards of living in exchange for competitive edge globally. So while we cling to $7.50 an hour and everything else, we'll become irrelevant. I read the article and would have to agree that we are sinking quickly.
