I am in the waiting room of Respiratory Consultants of Santa Monica to get the cough I have had for three years checked out. Other people have been on me for a long time to get it figured out so I’m finally doing it. I went to Dr. Kassab of Virginia Mason in Seattle a year and a half ago and after running tests and spending hundreds of my dollars, he never got to the bottom of it.

The cough produces a clear/whitish mucus. Not sure what that means. Maybe chronic bronchitis.

One thing that sucks is that I only have high deductible medical insurance. Everything I have done here at Respiratory Consultants of Santa Monica will have to be paid for out of pocket. Ugh.

My visit with Dr. Goldman went really well.  He gave me a lung x-ray and a spirometry (spelling?) test, both of which were normal.  He thinks that my cough is the result of post-nasal drip or maybe mild cough asthma.  To find out for sure, he gave me some drugs for treating post-nasal drip and told me to call him back in a week to let him know my status.  I talked to him a bit about some of his other interests and discussed mine as well; Dr. Goldman is engaging and has a great bedside manner.  I am glad I went to him.
