Seeing “The Color Purple” with Tara Walters
Tara Walters and I trekked through the Seattle blizzard down to the Paramount Theatre downtown to see “The Color Purple” on Sunday evening. Tara had mentioned that she wanted to go see this Broadway musical that was doing a national tour a while back and I agreed to accompany her. “The Color Purple” is a funny, sad and thoroughly entertaining musical about one poor, ugly black girls life journey in America. The story tracks the girl, Celie, and her family through time and vividly displays their changing personalities and beliefs.
Due to the very snowy conditions on Sunday night, fewer people than expected attended the play and Tara and I were able to move down to better seats. We had a very interesting time driving downtown though through 6 inches of snow and ice on the roadways… good thing my Grandpa taught me how to drive in the snow and had given me chains!
